As you may have seen elsewhere on the website, WIM have now been awarded Clubmark which is something which those working within education developing school/ sports clubs links are increasingly expecting clubs to have gained.
Secondly, eleven WIM members recently attended a course in Emergency First Aid, gaining the certificate necessary for Level 2 coaches to gain their licence to practice, and which should enable the club to provide its own first aid cover at most events.
Thirdly, the long awaited SI schools kits have finally been delivered to Cris Tween. Within the next week we hope to have three sets of kit across the county for use in schools or for coaching sessions.
One set will be located with John & Di Tilsley for use in the South of the county, one will be kept by Dick Keighley or Chris & Lynn Branford for use in N Dorset and the third set will be maintained by John Warren & Keith Henderson for use in E Dorset and Moors Valley.
Each set will contain 14 control boxes + clear+check, 30 dibbers and a small printer. We are looking at using electric fence posts as stakes for these units.
All these new units do not need to be programmed by computer and for training/coaching purposes and small events can be managed without the use of a laptop as long as the customers are happy to get splits printouts which don't have their names on them. Tests with children at Canford and Clayesmore schools indicates that the new equipment generates great enthusiasm.
Cris Tween will keep the older SI boxes which will be used just for major events, which should save on battery life.
