The following information has been received from the organisers of the Mendip Mashup.
Members of Wimborne Orienteers may be interested in the Mendip Mashup,
to be held for its 2nd year on Saturday 20th June in the heart of the
Mendip Hills not far from Cheddar Gorge.
The event combines the best of trail racing, orienteering and the Hash
House Harriers, with coloured flour trails, giant flags and impressive
terrain. Runners (and walkers) collect points by finding flags, but
must return to the start before their time — 1, 2 or 3 hours — runs
out.
Accommodation can be provided at the Charterhouse Centre (postcode:
BS40 7XR; grid reference: ST501557), where the Mashup starts and
finishes, or there is camping on the site. Evening entertainment (live
music), home-cooked food and a bar with local real ales and Addlestones
cider contribute to make this a memorable event.
